I began to learn yoga (very) late in life - a big regret.
Concerned that the changes in age and hip replacement surgeries could make yoga risky, I believed yoga was not for me even though so many others in my life found so much benefit from it. But I also learned how yoga can enhance the changes in the brain and other aspects of physiology that follow mindfulness meditation - something I do practice. But could I feel safe to follow instructions and be mindful of all physical sensations brought on by the poses without their evaluation and simply trust my teacher ?
So I was profoundly grateful to have been guided to Lucy Weninger at Hollyburn Country Club. Lucy’s strong knowledge of functional anatomy, plus her ongoing careful attention , encouragements and acceptance of my efforts truly does allow me to be in my body for those amazingly short 75 minutes. Lucy continuously fine tunes my position and posture; she has an uncanny ability to know if a muscle group that should be contracting, isn’t !
Hers is truly individualized therapy that stems from her extensive teaching experience , knowledge and practice of different types of yoga which she can incorporate as needed and her complete willingness to demonstrate and assist throughout. And I must add it is fun.
I have no hesitation in recommending Lucy as an excellent yoga therapist especially when there is a medical condition to be taken into consideration.
